If you're looking for a way to reveal smoother, brighter and younger-looking skin, adding a chemical peel to your skincare routine is a must!
What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a type of exfoliating treatment that involves applying a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the top layer of dead skin cells to peel away. This reveals the new skin underneath, which is smoother, brighter and more even in tone. Chemical peels come in different strengths and types, including glycolic acid peels, salicylic acid peels and lactic acid peels.
What is the Difference Between a Chemical Peel and Physical Exfoliator?
While both chemical peels and physical exfoliators are effective in removing dead skin cells, there are some key differences between the two. Physical exfoliators use abrasive particles, such as beads or granules, to physically remove the dead skin cells. Chemical peels, on the other hand, use chemicals to dissolve the bonds between the dead skin cells and the new skin underneath, allowing the dead skin cells to peel away. Chemical peels are generally gentler and less likely to cause irritation compared to physical exfoliators.
How Often Should You Use a Chemical Peel?
The frequency with which you use a chemical peel depends on the strength of the peel and your skin type. Mild peels can be used once or twice a week, while stronger peels may only be used once or twice a month. It's important to follow the instructions on the product and to not over-exfoliate, as this can cause irritation and damage to the skin.
Which Type Of Chemical Peel Is Right For Me?
Eminence Organics offers four different types of mild, at-home exfoliating peels to cater to specific skin needs. The four types are:
Eminence Organics Firm Skin Acai Exfoliating Peel: This firming peel solution is designed for normal to dry or mature skin types. It is packed with antioxidants from acai berry, grapefruit, and goji, as well as lactic and glycolic acids, to hydrate the skin deeply and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With regular use, this peel will increase skin firmness, restore elasticity, and reveal a smoother, softer complexion.
Eminence Organics Calm Skin Chamomile Exfoliating Peel: This gentle exfoliating peel solution is designed for sensitive skin types. It contains lactic and mandelic acids, as well as chamomile, calendula and arnica flower, to refresh, moisturize and soothe the skin. It is mild enough to be used two to three times a week, and it will leave the skin feeling calm, balanced, and luminous.
Eminence Organics Clear Skin Willow Bark Exfoliating Peel: This deep-cleansing and clarifying peel solution is designed for problem skin types. It contains gentle salicylic acid, biosulphur and tomato extract to remove surface impurities, balance sebum and reduce the appearance of problem skin. Willow bark, lilac and azelaic acid also help to calm the skin and reduce redness and inflammation. The peel reduces pore size and leaves the skin feeling clear, smooth and revitalized.
Eminence Organics Bright Skin Licorice Root Exfoliating Peel: This results-oriented peel solution is designed to reduce the appearance of uneven pigmentation. It contains lactic and mandelic acids, as well as licorice root and a Natural Hydroquinone Alternative from African potato and tara tree, to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and brighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
How to Perform a Chemical Peel at Home?
Performing a chemical peel at home is simple and easy with the right supplies and instructions. Here are the steps to follow:
- Collect your skincare products, including a cleanser, toner, and any moisturizer, serum, facial oil, concentrate or eye cream you use.
- Cleanse your face with lukewarm water and a small amount of cleanser. Massage the cleanser in a circular motion for 15-30 seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Apply a toner or tonique to a thin cotton pad and gently swipe over your face.
- Apply your at-home chemical peel to your cleansed and toned skin. Dispense one to two pumps of the solution on one of the dual-textured cotton round pads provided. Apply in circular motions covering the face and neck, avoiding the eye area and leave on.
- Follow up with the remainder of your skincare routine, including moisturizers and eye creams.
IMPORTANT: Skin will be more sensitive to the sun. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product.
Adding a chemical peel to your skincare routine is an effective way to rejuvenate your skin and enhance its appearance. With its gentle exfoliating properties, a chemical peel helps to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and improve skin texture, tone and radiance. It is crucial to choose the right product for your skin type and follow the instructions carefully to avoid any skin irritation. Incorporating a chemical peel into your skincare routine is an excellent way to keep your skin looking its best and maintain a healthy, youthful appearance.
